Product Manager - Outerwear

Our client is a supplier to one the UK's leading retailers. They now have a rare opportunity for an experienced Product Manager to join their thriving sourcing hub in Shanghai. As Product Manager for all adult outerwear you will lend expert direction to every stage of the design process. You will source, develop and offer a range of product from the region that exceeds the Buyers’ expectations in terms of design, price and quality. 

Product Manager - Outerwear - The role:

  • You will lead a PD team with 2-3 subordinators to support and also cross team work with Merchandising and Technical teams internally to maximize the sales & profits of your product areas.
  • Most importantly you will establish the sales strategy, set the budget and achieve your sales targets, monitoring and adjusting on a continual basis. 
  • Work very closely with the UK product teams as well as the Sales & Design team to understand the needs of the customer. Use this information and your understanding of the product offer from the country/region to develop clothing ranges to grow the business.
  • Deliver the trend, this will involve regular travel to the UK and inspirational travel plus constant communication with UK Buying and Design teams.
  • Manage the product offer from the country/region, this will require good relationships with local mills and garment manufactures to ensure great product, prices and lead times.
  • Work closely with the Merchandising teams, Technical teams and the office to ensure the product offer is backed-up by excellent service and quality. In particular, development samples and price must always be fast and accurate.
  • Ensure customer visits to the country/region are well prepared and presented.


Product Manager - Outerwear - The candidate:

  • More than 5 years product development / buying or merchandising experience in the garment field. Experience on Outwear product will be necessary, Childrenswear or Adult are all welcomed.
  • Familiar with the UK garment market and the related rules/compliance parameters.
  • Possess a high sense of responsibility, creativity and pro-activeness to meet customer’s needs.
  •  Ability to meet and exceed business targets.
  • Strong team leadership and management skills with proven ability to achieve results through people.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, positive attitude, resourceful and a problem solver.
