Ladies Sock Designer - Mat Cover (1 year +)

Our client is a leading supplier within the hosiery, underwear and loungewear markets. They are currently recruiting a Sock Designer to join their team in Leicester.  They are looking for a candidate that are confident and who can attend and present at customer meetings, able to build great relationships with the buyers, can work in a busy, fast paced environment, a commercial eye and awareness of current trends.  Previous sock, nightwear or soft accessory experience will be considered.  

Ladies Sock Designer  - The Role:

• Compile trend and competitor research from shopping trips (UK and overseas), trend predictions, catwalks and editorials
• Working closely with product development teams
• Completing spec sheets and design packs
• Attend development meetings and bring product ideas
• Working with the senior designer to product CADs, presentation boards and detailed tech packs
• Liaising with factories and suppliers throughout sampling process, chasing samples and ensuring samples are received on time
• Keeping daily sample logs up to date for customer accounts
• Processing samples as they come into the office and organising post to customers
• Creating technical packs (Style Files and PDs) and actioning samples with factories
• Setting up and issuing sock bitmap files
• Meet key dates and work within the critical path

Ladies Sock Designer - The Candidate:

• Strong ladies generic handwriting for socks and hosiery
• Excellent organisation skills
• A flair for design and a creative mind with a commercial eye for design and colour
• A strong attention to detail
• Proficient computer skills in Adobe Illustrator/Photoshop and Microsoft Office
• Exceptional communication and team working skills
• Passion and hunger to work in a fast-paced fashion environment
• Willing to travel overseas to factory visits (Turkey and possibly China) and on comp shops
• Strong, independent presentation skills for seasonal trend presentations to customers and internally
• Awareness of trends, both upcoming and current with a focus on ladieswear
• Industry experience of both ladies generic design and working directly with customers/factories at a designer/senior designer level
